How Can I Know I Am Saved?
Assurance rests on God's promises and Christ's finished work, confirmed by the Spirit's work in our lives.
Primary Scripture
1 John 5:11–13
John wrote his first letter so believers might know they have eternal life — not hope for it hesitantly, but know it.
Many Christians struggle with doubt. The good news is that God does not want us to live paralysed by uncertainty.
Three Anchors
The Word of God — 'Whoever has the Son has life' (1 John 5:12).
The Work of Christ — Finished on the cross, not by our performance.
The Spirit Within — Producing love, repentance, hunger for God, and growing obedience.
What this does not mean
Assurance is not sinless perfection or emotional certainty every day. It is trust in what God has said and done.
Application
Anchor your assurance in three places: God's promise (Scripture), Christ's work (the cross), and the Spirit's presence (a changing life).
